Review: Bumble and Bumble & Updated Hair Routine

So recently I came to find myself trying out the relatively new Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo. I can safely say that the smell won me over before I had even tried it on my hair itself, for me shampoo's have to smell clean and fresh, and this does that exactly. However, I did find that it did not lather very well, and I had to do two good washes with it to get to the shampoo satisfaction.

No shampoo can be left without a conditioner as well, so I have been using Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Conditioner. It does a good job of not sitting to heavy on the hair and leaving it feeling gloss, soft and light. I have developed a love for this, and sadly have just finished off this bottle, so I'm sure I will go and re-purchase the condition and would love to try the Shampoo as well.
(you can find the conditioner to buy here and the shampoo here)
I decided that my hair needed one last touch to help, despite the volume and texture that was added.
I added into the mix 'Twisted Sita, Different Strokes Serum' for curly hair, of which I do have, it just helps to smooth everything out and leave some gloss in my over styled and heat damaged hair. ( If interested you can pick it up here
So, here is my new updated and slightly unexpected hair care routine, knowing me likely to change again soon. For the Bumble and Bumble shampoo, I would give it a 6/10, and would not re-purchase it as it's a lot of money for something which you can find a similar product to on the high street for a fraction of the cost. I'm always up for trying new things, and would love to try some more Bumble and Bumble stuff.

Have you tried this shampoo or other products, let me know what you think @lndgirlblogging

Long Over Due, DIY SOS

I know the last few post have gone slightly off the beauty path, however I see this space as mine and can have the freedom to write whatever I feel, and I hope you will like this post as much as I am going to enjoy writing it. This is very long over due, around 2 months ago I decided on a whim that it was time to re-decorate my room. I will be turning 20 this November, and my room just felt that it lacked maturity. So I set out on this new bedroom mission.

My Boyfriend, Darren, owns his own decorating and building company, Homes Enhanced, (which if your interested in any work you can check out the website here.) So this made him the perfect guy for the job.
I set to to decided what I wanted my room to be, wallpaper, paint, colours?  So much to think about and decided on. For colours I decided on a teal blue and cream, with a some fancy wallpaper thrown in as well.

Taking a step backwards now, here is what my bedroom started out look like before its gorgeous make-over, please excuse the mess!

But this is now a happy distant memory, just before this photo was taken I went out in search of paint samples, which let me tell all you lovely readers, is not a fun thing to do, beige and cream have many different shades all of which look the same, and showed up green on my walls. This stage, of finding the right paints alone, was the most tricky and stressful of the whole bedroom process.
As you can see, I went a bit tester mad, with about 5 different colours and shades, on different walls, marking out what was going to go where and what colours worked well.
Now, I kid you not, these green colours you are seeing on my wall, are in fact, yes, beige they are meant to be beige! Paint is madness
In the end we decided on Blue Reflection for my chimney breast colour, and Natural Hessian for the other remaining walls. Now that we had seen the back of the Paint picking process, it was on to wallpaper for the feature wall, there is a little interior design shop around 15 minutes from where I live, it always has such great window displays and so I thought right, lets go in and see what they have got, i ended up finding my wallpaper on my first outing for it.
It is by Harlequin from the Amelia line, it also comes in pink, green and beige. I was told by Darren that when choosing the paper I needed to make sure it was a good quality and quite thick otherwise it does not hang on the wall that nicely and as well it means when working with it you are less likely to encounter problems with the paper itself. The paper worked out to be £150 for 5 rolls, I love it so it was well worth the money, the only thing about patterned wallpaper is, when hanging it you have to follow the pattern which means a lot of the wallpaper just goes to waste which is a bit annoying.
Next came the really fun bit. I had my paint, wallpaper and my decorator all that was left to do was to do the room itself.
I had to clear my room of majority of everything that was in it and then help Darren move the furniture in to places which allowed him to have accesses to all the walls.
All in all it took 2 and a half days, not bad for a maniac worker that is Darren, I know he put his all in to this as he is a perfectionist and made sure I was happy with everything he did, the shelves you see in the picture above, were the black ones from my old room that he painted and re hung in a new place for me, along with touching up all the other wood work in the room. Such a Angel.

After two and a half days of non-stop hard work, too much fast food, and a lot of bad TV throughout those days, my room was complete and I could not wait to see it. I could not of asked for anything better, it was perfect, along with all the work that had been carried out in it as well, not one fault I could name, but judge for yourselves....
I finished off the room by putting my stuff back in, even though this processes helped me clear out a lot of rubbish I had, of which I really needed, I think I'm secretly a bit of a hoarder, just need to do my clothes next and then I will be all good!
I just finally added some new items from two of my most loved home wear stores, Ikea and John Lewis, this Jewellery box was from John Lewis in their Sale it was £25 down from £55, how could I say no?!
and these cute little flower pots from Ikea which now home my brushes on my desk, along with some matching pillow cases for my bed, and a little photo frame I fell in love with.

There are still more things I want to do to the room in the future, such as the floor and blinds but all in good time, and all when I have some money! Hoped you liked this post even if it was a bit different to normal. I'm so proud of the work Darren did and like I mentioned before, check him and some more of this work out here! All his contact details are on the website, and any questions tweet me, I love to hear what you think of this post and my new amazing room,

have a wonderful Saturday

Summer Read's 2013

Sorry for the absences, I have been holiday-ing in the sun for the last 2 weeks, but now I am back with a new post.
I don't know about everyone but I love to read, and especially on holiday, going to the beach and just reading is great. I bought three books to take away with me this year, I finished all three and enjoyed them all as well.

Billy and Me: By Giovanna Fletcher

First up, on my reading agenda was Giovanna Fletcher's book 'Billy and Me'. Who, if your a Mcfly fan like my self, is married to front man Tom!
I wanted to read this since I watched Nic, from Pixiwoo talking about it during their video with Giovanna on their Channel. I really enjoyed this book, it was girlie, young fun, but also had a strong story line to it. Billy is the kind of character who, ever girl wishes they had met in a dainty tea room somewhere along the line, it made you identify with the story well. Overall its a easy read, and super enjoyable!

Silver Linings Playbook: By Matthew Quick

I have to admit i picked this up because it had Bradley Cooper on the front. I knew about the film, but had not seen it and did not ever know it was a book first. I really enjoyed Silver linings, however for about 3 quarters of the book it did feel like everything was moving slowly to only for it not to go anywhere, which to an extent it didn't but it had great characters in it and opened my eyes up to how people deal with difficult situations, and that its normally the people who are not directly affected to have more trouble. I would 100% recommended this to anyone, its light and enjoy able but there is depth to it as well, and now I'm dying the see the movie!

The Bling Ring: By Nancy Jo Sales

This was my most loved out of all three books I read while I was away. Unlike the other two, this was not a story as such, more of a report, of true events. As i am studying to be a journalist myself seeing that the book had been written by Nancy Jo Sales was instantly an attraction for me, check out her article in Vanity Fair 'The Suspect Wore Loubountis' - which is a interview with Alexis Neiers, alleged Bling Ring member, charged with the burglary of Orlando Blooms house in 2009.
As I'm sure you are aware there is currently a film depicting the events of the 'The Bling Ring', between 2008-2009 a group of teenagers from Los Angeles robbed some of Hollywood's hottest celebrities, taking over $3 million worth of their stuff from watches, a hand gun, luggage, clothes laptops and more. It has information from the official police reports, and from the Bling Ring members themselves, its so interesting, and I would say anyone who is interested in celebrity or just drama, should give this a read, I'm also dying to see the film of this now! 10/10 for the Bling Ring!

What have been your summer must reads?

let me know if you have read any of these or have any suggestions for other great books as well
