Only Monday I was lucky enough to be offered a ticket by one of my best friends to go to the first day of Wimbledon with her. How can you pass up this opportunity!?
I have never been before, and to be honest whenever its been on TV I have never really had too much interest in it, but again like I said an opportunity not to be missed!
So off we set on Monday morning, on what was actually a pretty long train journey, but loved how when we arrived the station was kitted out like a tennis court, I appreciate detail like this, gets everyone buzzing. We got there just as it opened, and wondered over to a court to sit down and watch our first match (we only had day passes not tickets for centre court or court one), despite this the matches we watched had just as much drama and skill in them as all the others.
As well, Eugenie Bouchard, whose match we watched was so sweet to stop and allow us to have our picture taken with her as well!
It was super exciting just to think we were in the same place as people like Sharapova, Nadal, Murray and Federer, who we tried to see but was only told that we were standing outside the wrong exit...I still think they were telling us porkies though!
And of course how could we not go to Wimbledon and not watch a men's match, the power at which they hit the balls at is actually so fast, one poor ball boy and lines man got hit from a serve....you could just see them trying to smile through the pain!
I loved what the ball boys and ball girls were wearing, they were kitted out in Wimbledon Ralph Lauren, they had all the stuff to by in the stores there, shame it was so darn expensive, the polo shirts were £110 and the towel, which I was so desperate to get, was a mad £28, which I think is just far too expensive maybe next year, so determined to get this towel looking at it now on Eugenie!
On the way home we of course could not pass up the classic, Strawberry's and Cream as well as appreciating the giant Shrub shaped tennis ball, what did i tell you about detail, key! Ha
I had such a lovely day and would recommend going to anyone, its such a good day out and you get so into the tennis, even if your not a massive fan! Although it can end up costing a bit if your not careful, I'm hoping to go again next year!
Any one hitting Wimbledon this year?
